We Love Kari Byron

Kari Byron has been in training for her job since childhood. Experimenting with all manner of dolls, objects and even people with the inclusion of her younger sister, science has run in Kari Byron’s blood since a very young age. This exposure to science and all manner of wild real-life experiments has adapted her to a profession of building, designing and destroying all manner of models, robots and other engineered oddities.

After attending and graduating from San Francisco State University with a bachelor of the arts degree in film and sculpting, Kari Byron had the good fortune to travel around the world with little more than a backpack and the accompaniment of a close friend. This wealth of experience no doubt brought her that much closer to the skills and abilities that she would eventually bring to bear in her position as cohost and builder on the MythBusters popular television program. Participating in various projects and odd jobs for several years after graduating university magna cum laude, Kari Byron landed the job at MythBusters through repeated attempts to break in to the build team position of modeler and sculptor. After eventually getting hired as a modeler, she spent her first day having scans made of her posterior, a noble and admirable profession.

Although after the famous scanning episode involving airplane toilets with the rest of the season seemed somewhat dull without Kari’s presence, the second season saw her become a regular cohost and member of the team, as she designs, constructs and tears apart all manner of bizarre and unnaturally engineered gizmos, machines and gadgets. From grinders to tape measures, computers to multi-meters, Kari Byron has shown great affinity for all manner of technological gadgets and mechanical gear. It is this technical orientation of her skill set that so fascinates so many of her fanatical male fan following. Pictures and photos of Kari Byron are traded throughout the Internet on fan sites as she is adored by nearly every geek, nerd and egg head that has ever blogged or posted on a four on. The amount of fan sites and blogs dedicated to her and her alone is staggering, not to mention the amount of MythBusters and Discovery Channel fan sites that have pages or portions of their websites dedicated to her presence.

Despite all this fame and popularity, it remains to be seen how well her reputation will be upheld in the geek community. After getting married in 2006, many nerd hearts were broken and the Internet gave a collective sigh, as the most eligible geek bachelorette went off the market. Despite her marriage, the nerd community still ranks Kari Byron very high on the dream girlfriend list. After all, everyone can dream of a world where Kari Byron is still single and available.

This extreme fascination with Kari Byron in the nerd community is very likely a byproduct of the technical admiration of her technical skill and prowess, a quality that many wish was present in their significant others.
