We Love Kari Byron

Born on the 18th of December in 1974 and raised around the San Francisco bay area, Kari is a California girl straight from the heart. After growing up in the bay area and attending high school at Los Gatos High, she enrolled in classes and graduated from San Francisco State University magna cum laude with a BA. Despite this stellar education, Kari did not go straight to work in her field. Joining a friend, Kari Byron instead spent her time backpacking across India, Bali, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Thailand, Nepal, Tokyo, Fiji and even the Cook Islands.

Although she traveled all around the world, the trip was not all fun and games as she conducted all manner of work on sculptures and collaborations and other projects as well as research and acquisitions for other art related projects and investors. During this time, she spent a tremendous amount of her available free time hiking and backpacking across these new and exciting areas and regions of society, finding out more about the world and herself. Once these travels were completed she turned her efforts toward settling down and leading some type of normal life.

After her extensive travels, she participated in all manner of odd jobs, delivering roses, painting faces as a clown, working in department stores as a mannequin and even conducting secret shopping for a martini company. She even starred in and directed some horror films of the B quality. All these extensive and unrelated jobs had very little to do with the degree that she had worked so hard for in her university experience. But, typical to the college graduate, she had to work to support herself and took the jobs despite the fact that she was somewhat overqualified for the positions. These somewhat menial jobs provided a wealth of experience and character that many would enjoy having in their life experience. Despite all these facts, at some point she knew she had to look for some type of permanent and meaningful work to base her life on. Thankfully, her work in making prototype toys for Dungeons & Dragons fans, extensive modeling of dragons and other fantasy oriented products and her experience wit making models sparked an interest in the show MythBusters, where myths were debunked in real life to great results on television and displayed for all to see.

Putting her efforts into procuring work with the M5 production company that creates many of the products and effects seen in the television series, Kari would spend all her free time around the visual effects company and participate in whatever work was being done, simply to gain an egress into the work being done on the show. Finally, she was hired and subsequently participated in modeling for the airplane toilet experiment, in which she was required to wear a formfitting bodysuit and have a perfect scan made of her posterior.

After the airing of her first episode, Kari Byron’s career was set and a new moniker was coined, as she became the ”Hot Chick on MythBusters.”
