Kari Byron: Personality Plus

It is easy to see why Kari Byron was selected as the female cohost on the MythBusters television program on the Discovery Channel. Full of personality, the attractive redhead brings the show to life every time she appears on screen. Reviews of her performances on the MythBusters television program are always positive and rarely have anything but good to say about the new addition to the MythBusters formula.

This focus on personality as well as attractiveness and overall suitability for the job has worked very well for the MythBusters program, as Kari Byron could not be a better addition to the MythBusters overall cast. The longer Kari Byron appears on the MythBusters television program, the more the ratings climb and the more buzz is generated about the attractive redhead. Although her original employment with the MythBusters staff was in the area of modeling and model building as well as designing and destroying prototypes for the MythBusters show to film, coming out in front of the camera was a wise move for both Kari and the show, as ratings began to skyrocket and attention for Mrs. Byron has been phenomenal. This focus on combining talent, personality and attractiveness is a very successful and effective marketing technique.

By adding the personality of Kari Byron to the MythBusters program formula, the Discovery Channel has hit a home run in the form of public relations and garnering interest from the world fan base, including the all important 18 to 35 year old young male demographic, considered to be the cornerstone of all advertising revenue indicators. With this winning formula, the MythBusters program has generated much interest and has become even more unique in its approach to cinematography and presenting the MythBusters formula.

But Kari Byron’s personality was almost never revealed to the world, as her original job with MythBusters was with the build team, including build team members Grant Imahara and Tory Belleci. Constructing models, prototypes and all manner of other types of myth busting prototypes and machines, Kari Byron got her breakout role on MythBusters with the vacuum airplane toilet myth, in which the myth that a toilet on an airplane in flight had enough vacuum to hold a user down to the toilet and not release them until the flight ended was debunked. The midst was easily proven untrue, as no more than 3 pounds per square inch is generated by the airplanes toilet while in flight, not nearly enough to hold even a small child to the seat. Providing the model for a cast made of her posterior, Kari Byron was at first only an irregular guest on the MythBusters show. Only in the second season did she begin to have an active role in MythBusters episodes.

Thankfully, the directors and producers of the MythBusters show looked past Kari Byron’s inexperience and lack of acting or on camera ability and slapped her into a bodysuit for a butt cast, prominently displaying her winning personality.
